So many times I hear it said that the Sword of the Spirit is our only offensive weapon in Eph 6:10-18, but I tend to disagree with that statement. Take the Shield of Faith for example. Primarily a defensive weapon, our shield also is very important offensively in spititual warfare. As it is said, "The best defense is a good offense!" We need to be agressive in our faith and use our shield offensively. Consider one of my favorite movies Frank Miller's "300". The Spartans became an impenetrable fighting force by locking their shields together with every warrior looking out for the one next to them as they advanced forward driving the Persians off the cliffs. Think how powerful the Christian Church community would be as a whole and just how utterly devastating of an army we would have in this evil day if we would lock our shields together as we stand shoulder to shoulder, toe to toe against the forces of darkness in this world. Instead much of the time we get caught up in petty differences and offenses due to our own individual selfish and prideful nature, causing divisions between us on many levels and renduring us slack and ineffective in ministry. Our faith will quench ALL of the firey darts, arrows & bullets of the enemy and if we are aggressive enough in our faith, we can atually even use our shield to drive the enemy backwards, hense enforcing the restraining order that the Lord Jesus Christ commisioned us to have against satan. Lets lock our shields together as we make a strong advance against the kingdom of evil in these last days. In one accord as allies! Just like the Spartans in "300" lets "Prepare For Glory!"
